The recent flash floods in greater area of Jakarta, Indonesia, including Bogor, Depok, Tangerang and Bekasi (Jabodetabek), killed more than 50 people as of Saturday and left hundreds of thousands homeless. According to local authorities, this is the city’s most intense period of rainfall since record keeping began more than 20 years ago.

Local leaders of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints reported that, despite one of the city’s most intense rainfalls ever, all members and missionaries are safe. The Church is working with local authorities to determine how to best render needed humanitarian aid.
“We are mindful of those suffering from the devastating floods,” said the Asia Area Presidency of the Church. “We pray the Lord will bless those who are suffering with peace and comfort in these trying moments.”
